Velké Žernoseky, Czechia
Porta Bohemica is a young winery founded in 2010, after a long time of planning and study. We have been taking care of the vineyard called Třešňovka situated in the famous wine-making village of Velké Žernoseky in the Czech wine region since 2008. The tradition of winemaking in the village has been documented with certainty since the mid-13th century. The vine has been cultivated around Litoměřice since the times of Prince Spytihnev II (1057). We overlook the Czech gate, Porta Bohemica from our vineyards – natural formations that gave the name to our winery. Our wines ferment spontaneously. The most important variety is local grape Mueller-Thurgau.
